Being Happy

Last weekend, for fall break, me and my twin sister took our 16 year old sons to Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. Me and my son had never been to Universal and we had never been on a vacation with my sister and her son – which is something we had been wanting to do for a long time. The most enjoyable part of the vacation was being together. It certainly wasn’t the rides…. because of my size, I was uncomfortable in most of the seats. We waited in line for nearly 3 hours to ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure only to be turned away (with express passes for our trouble and my embarrassment) because the safety arm wouldn’t close all the way on my seat. We then googled ‘fat friendly rides at Universal Orlando’ so that wouldn’t happen again… My legs and feet were hurting constantly, not being used to carrying around all this weight with no break…. I was miserable.

I am a happy person – an eternal optimist. If I had to put a percentage on it, I would say that I am happy 85% of the time. And even for the 15% left over, I can find something positive in those experiences. I don’t want to have to look for the silver lining to see it….

Today, I downloaded an app called ‘Simple’ – to get my lifestyle under control. I am going to journal my progress here. I can’t promise every day, but I will at least once a week.

That is all for now!! – D
